Amazon No Longer Offers 2-Day Prime Shipping (Here’s What To Do About It)
Have you noticed that Amazon doesn’t deliver on their 2-day Prime Shipping anymore? It’s actually not even close for my address and I’ve had to return stuff to Amazon as I don’t need it by the time the package shows up. Anything that I want to buy today (a Monday) won’t be delivered until Sunday at the earliest. I tested this on a bunch of different shopping categories and made sure it was all products sold and shipped directly by Amazon, and none could be delivered before Sunday, 6 days from NOW. But alas, not all hope is lost, here’s what you should do to hold Amazon’s feet to the fire. It’ll only take a few minutes and put an extra $10 or $20 in your pocket.
Call Them Up and Ask For a 1-Month Refund
When I have a problem with Amazon I usually start a live chat session as it’s easier to say exactly what I want to say.
BUT…for the first time ever, I recommend actually calling them at 1-(888) 280-4331 and say, “Why don’t I get 2-day Prime shipping anymore?”
I tried doing this via Live Chat and it just went in circles due to what I’m guessing was a language barrier.
At this point, give them your zip code and ask them to run it through their system to find out for sure whether your address qualifies for 2-day shipping.
Most addresses do indeed qualify for 2-day Prime shipping.

If your address does qualify, then you probably already know the EXACT reason why you’re not getting your packages within 2 days.
It’s because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain and they should pay for it.
This is when you politely ask for a 1-month refund on your Prime membership (approximately $10) because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain.
I did this recently via a phone call to their customer service department and it took me all of about 5 minutes to score the $10 refund.
There was ZERO hesitation from the rep I talked with and I think they are trained to hand out this refund for those who politely ask for it.
Note: My family orders from Amazon at least 1-2 times per week and I’m not sure if that played a role in getting the 1-month refund, but in either case, it’s definitely worth a shot.
PRO TIP: AIM HIGH & ASK FOR EVEN MORE
From the comments section, several Amazon Prime members were actually given a $20 “inconvenience credit”. Since we we know that a $20 credit is on the table, you might as well ask for it. You stand a decent chance of them giving it to you, and if they don’t just try again later with a different CSR.
Hold Amazon’s Feet to the Fire
I realize Amazon’s been hit by unprecedented demand in recent months, but let’s not forget they are one of the richest companies in the world.
Now that the economy and stores have opened back up in most of the country, the demand for online shopping has been greatly reduced.
Yet Amazon still can’t figure it out and solve their order backlog issues.
What ticks me off the most is Amazon wants to blame it on the pandemic and increased demand in online shopping.
I’d have no problem buying that argument back in March, April or May of 2020…BUT NOT NOW.
It’s my opinion that Amazon was losing money on the 2-day shipping guarantee and is using the current situation as a handy way to get rid of the fast shipping guarantee altogether.

I’d be SHOCKED if 2-Day Prime shipping ever came back at this point.
So the bottom line is get your $10 refund NOW before they aren’t so generous.
The customer service rep also told me that MANY people are calling to cancel Prime, she said she had already cancelled over 50 memberships in the past couple days.
Here’s what a chat rep told me when I asked him if Prime members were complaining about the issue:
PRO TIP: TRY AN AMAZON BUSINESS ACCOUNT
Thanks to reader Joseph, who commented recently letting us know that his Amazon Business account has been delivering in 2-days since last September. The interesting part is that his “regular Prime account” is stuck at 4-7 days for delivery. Since an Amazon business account is FREE to join, and also gives you quantity discounts, setting up an account could be worth a shot. Also, in case you were wondering, he said his business is not COVID related in the slightest.
Prime 2-Day Shipping Has Turned Into 5-Day Delivery
The reason that 2-day Prime shipping has turned into 5, 6, or even 7-day shipping has nothing to do with UPS or the USPS.
It falls 100% on Amazon as they now say that the “2-day shipping guarantee” is from when they actually process your order and get it in the mail.
So if it takes them a couple days to box it up and ship it out, then you’ll get it delivered to your home in about 5 days on average.

If you’re like me, the main reason you joined Prime and paid $139/year was for the 2-day shipping, so this is KIND OF A BIG DEAL.
Ask the Reader: Are you a Prime member? If so, when was the last time Amazon delivered something to you in 2 days?

Five day delivery? You are lucky. My order was placed on June 16 and the predicted delivery date is August 12!
That is so true about the only reason most people are paying for Prime is because of the 2 day delivery, but if Amazon is just going to be lazy about it, I guess I will just switch back to Walmart again!!
it has 100% to do with the USPS
they lost their deal with it, because the public found out
NOT true. The vast majority of my packages ship with UPS. They always have. I’ve been a Prime Member for well over a decade.
I feel kinda bad admitting this but my Amazon experience has been stellar. But it wasn’t always like that. Right before the pandemic hit, half of my 2 to 3 day delivery orders would take anywhere from 5 to 7 days. Sometimes even longer. It got worse during the pandemic. But something happened around a year ago. First I started noticing more next day delivery than 2 or 3 day delivery on many of the stuff I buy. And 2nd, almost every next day delivery were actually delivered next day. If placed an order late or in the evening, it would be delivered the day after next day. Always. This past year I can recall exactly only three delays on my next day delivery orders and I usually buy a LOT from Amazon. I have a shopping addiction and Amazon is worse than crack. I’m in LA County
I figured out a great way to fix the problem. You have to go onto your settings and change your country for some reason it next to a different country and make sure that under settings languages and country you’re going to check USA. I fixed my problem well I read a A lot about the company still having that technical difficulty.
I was receiving packages within 3 or 4 days after placing the order. That was pretty consistent until a couple of weeks ago. The problem now is Amazon is not filling the orders for as much as 10 days, and this is across the board. Any item that I look at has a ship date at least 7 days out. It does not matter if Amazon is the seller/shipper, or if the item is being sold/shipped by an outside Amazon seller. WTF is that all about? I just looked at an item with multiple choices. The only thing in common is none would ship for 10 days. How could all of the items not be available for shipping for 10 days?
Yeah, they are slow that is for sure. Its 4-6 days for most things I think about ordering. The only reason I been ordering from them at all lately is convivence and most times it comes in sooner. But I don’t like that because I never know if the product will come in earlier or not.
Then the ones that are slow, well that is irritating. Amazon went from trying to make it next day, to barely holding on to a week now. That isn’t what I signed up for and been Prime for long long time.
I actually just did a search for this because was going to other something, and it said 4 days so I didn’t order it. Getting tired of it and they are closing some shipping points I remember hearing.
That new dude that took over isn’t very good at retail, might run it into the ground. Will cancel though it they continue. Other places caught up with shipping fast. I have to give Amazon credit for somewhat fixing the mail order system. Too bad they are falling apart now.
Just chatted with someone and they gave me 50% refund of yearly prime -and that’s after I demanded more because they first offered 35% refund. I gave the rep a piece of my mind on this and he tried to tell me how delivery works- stating it doesnt startes when i place my order…. YESSS the delivery starts the day I place the order, always been for me so stop the bs.
I had the same problem with the 2day shipping. Instead of just process my refund, Amazon customer service wasted my 40 mins on call, and 1 hour on online chat, changed FIVE assistants to “chat” with me about the delivery problem. And in the end, they couldn’t give back my money….just one month membership fee refund.
Thank you for creating this post. How stupid does Jeff Bezos think we are? I can’t remember the last time I received my item or items in 2 days. Amazon certainly isn’t having any problem collecting my money for Amazon prime but they fall way short on the only reason I am an Amazon prime customer.
I’m a year round bike commuter and I work a lot, Amazon prime 2 day delivery helps me out to save going to the store and buying things I need. I save time, energy and I don’t have to stand in line.
Why isn’t there a class action lawsuit for breach of contract?
They are so casual about it now as if Bobo is going to notice. They have literally tried to make me believe it’s only 2 days from when they ship it out
…. B.S.!!
And what’s up with the constant push to choose prime delivery day? NO! If I wanted a delivery day, I’d go back to shopping locally once a week.
And while I’m venting here, why is it I can sometimes get an item faster if I get it dropped off at a whole foods or Amazon locker and other times it takes longer to get it than having it dropped off at my house, which is literally 2 miles from an Amazon locker?
I just ordered 4 items and each one is scheduled to come at entirely different days even a week later yet if I decide to get everything in one box, I get it up to 5 days sooner.
While I’m at it…. People say, “If you don’t like it, cancel your subscription”. Why should I have to settle for and cancel my membership because they aren’t living up to their own standards?
Also, if it’s true that they are having issues with delivery, warehouse etc… Why aren’t they discounting our membership fees?
And one more thing…… Why does Amazon keep saying “FREE 2-Day delivery or FREE delivery for prime members when it’s NOT FREE.. It’s part of the fee we pay either monthly or yearly..It’s not free delivery people.. WE PAY FOR IT!
Yarrrrrrrrr I’m so annoyed with Amazon and especially Jeff bezos because he is so damn much money and he treats his employees horribly but he shred no problem spending billions of dollars to go up into space for 5 seconds that he can’t even do right by his customers.
I’d love it if we could sue them and I’m not the type to sue anyone but, how much longer are we going to take it?
I’m not renewing my membership in September if things don’t change.
Thanks for letting me vent, it felt great. I apologize for any typos.
PREACH, brother!! You said what I’ve been saying and more points I hadn’t articulated in my head. I’ll be using these points in my call to Amazon! I’m so sick of it! I’m curious…have you canceled your membership?
In the last few deliveries, I have had two that first showed being shipped via Amazon. Then the Amazon tracking number disappeared and there is a UPS tracking number instead — and the package number isn’t in their system yet. A small package was supposed to be delivered tomorrow (this was Prime but not two day shipping). Two or three days ago, according to Amazon tracking, it was in Hebron, Kentucky (looked good). Then the next day it had a UPS tracking number that “wasn’t in the system” yet. That tracking number finally showed up in their system today and the package is in Seacaucus, New Jersey? It still shows delivery by tomorrow, and it will probably show that all day tomorrow — until it doesn’t show up. Then there will be an apology letter and something like “if it doesn’t show up by… (some time next week), you can cancel the order.” This has happened to me (twice now) in the last two weeks. I don’t know what kind of game they’re playing, but I could have bought the same item CHEAPER from a non-Prime seller. In my opinion, promising a delivery date you’re not going to meet is a form of fraud. Looks like eBay is going to get a lot more of my business in the future.
I just called Amazon to complain about late and lost deliveries. They said they’ve noted it on my account so future deliveries should not be late but they didn’t offer a $10 membership refund or inconvenience credits of any kind. I will call again for a credit on my prime account on the next list or late delivery.
Thanks for writing this, I enjoyed this read. Also the business account was good info too! I have mixed feelings as it relates to my own experiences. I placed an order this Wednesday and received it Friday. But I wanted to order something else Friday also but earliest delivery would have been Tuesday lol I was still expecting 1day or even same day delivery. Haha
So true! I signed up for an AMAZON “delivery day” DO NOT DO IT! it has been 3 weeks and only once we’re the items actually delivered on that day!!! AND it want all orders to arrive on delivery day”- which is BS- we pay for prime to get things quicker!!! And I’m not having any success in removing a day now that one is already attached to my account- it’s a real PITA and is just wasting my time now- AND I called (before I read this) but will be calling again!!!! So annoyed….
Interesting discovery. I was ordering multiple items the delivery was a week. I ordered all items individually and the delivery for all but one items was two days. The last item delivery was 6 days. I think Amazon was trying to force me to ship everything in one package instead of giving me options to ship the slow item separately. From now on I’ll place one item orders!!
I was going to order several items yesterday, via Prime like I have for over 10 years. They used to take measures to make sure packages would arrive in the 2 day Prime shipping window. The items I was looking at wouldn’t even ship for 7 days, and were estimated to arrive in 1.5-2 WEEKS. So I got on chat to ask why the items would take so long to arrive when there’s a fulfillment center nearby and if Prime no longer includes 2 day shipping when shipped and sold by Amazon. So after the first rep disconnected our chat without me even getting to say anything, I tried again. The second rep explained “The reason it will take so long is because they don’t have the item at the local fulfillment center. I hope you understand.” Okay, but back in the day they would have put the items on a truck or plane to get here within a few days, not make me wait an entire week until they get the item to a ‘local’ center to distribute. I ended the chat without pushing for a credit, because when I tried that a couple times last year I got nothing. Maybe I will cancel my Prime membership and just make sure to spend $35 at once to get the same free shipping. The only thing I’m using Prime for now, apparently, is crappy tv streaming. I don’t give a rats behind about the music service or the books, etc. I just want 2 day shipping like they used to offer. I’m sick of big businesses behaving badly and always getting away with it!
