Amazon No Longer Offers 2-Day Prime Shipping (Here’s What To Do About It)

Have you noticed that Amazon doesn’t deliver on their 2-day Prime Shipping anymore? It’s actually not even close for my address and I’ve had to return stuff to Amazon as I don’t need it by the time the package shows up. Anything that I want to buy today (a Monday) won’t be delivered until Sunday at the earliest. I tested this on a bunch of different shopping categories and made sure it was all products sold and shipped directly by Amazon, and none could be delivered before Sunday, 6 days from NOW. But alas, not all hope is lost, here’s what you should do to hold Amazon’s feet to the fire. It’ll only take a few minutes and put an extra $10 or $20 in your pocket.

Amazon No Longer Offers 2-Day Prime Shipping (Here's What To Do About It)

Call Them Up and Ask For a 1-Month Refund

When I have a problem with Amazon I usually start a live chat session as it’s easier to say exactly what I want to say.

BUT…for the first time ever, I recommend actually calling them at 1-(888) 280-4331 and say, “Why don’t I get 2-day Prime shipping anymore?”

I tried doing this via Live Chat and it just went in circles due to what I’m guessing was a language barrier.

At this point, give them your zip code and ask them to run it through their system to find out for sure whether your address qualifies for 2-day shipping.

Most addresses do indeed qualify for 2-day Prime shipping.

If your address does qualify, then you probably already know the EXACT reason why you’re not getting your packages within 2 days.

It’s because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain and they should pay for it.

This is when you politely ask for a 1-month refund on your Prime membership (approximately $10) because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain.

I did this recently via a phone call to their customer service department and it took me all of about 5 minutes to score the $10 refund.

There was ZERO hesitation from the rep I talked with and I think they are trained to hand out this refund for those who politely ask for it.

Note: My family orders from Amazon at least 1-2 times per week and I’m not sure if that played a role in getting the 1-month refund, but in either case, it’s definitely worth a shot.

PRO TIP: AIM HIGH & ASK FOR EVEN MORE

From the comments section, several Amazon Prime members were actually given a $20 “inconvenience credit”. Since we we know that a $20 credit is on the table, you might as well ask for it. You stand a decent chance of them giving it to you, and if they don’t just try again later with a different CSR.

Hold Amazon’s Feet to the Fire

I realize Amazon’s been hit by unprecedented demand in recent months, but let’s not forget they are one of the richest companies in the world.

Now that the economy and stores have opened back up in most of the country, the demand for online shopping has been greatly reduced.

Yet Amazon still can’t figure it out and solve their order backlog issues.

What ticks me off the most is Amazon wants to blame it on the pandemic and increased demand in online shopping.

I’d have no problem buying that argument back in March, April or May of 2020…BUT NOT NOW.

It’s my opinion that Amazon was losing money on the 2-day shipping guarantee and is using the current situation as a handy way to get rid of the fast shipping guarantee altogether.

I’d be SHOCKED if 2-Day Prime shipping ever came back at this point.

So the bottom line is get your $10 refund NOW before they aren’t so generous.

The customer service rep also told me that MANY people are calling to cancel Prime, she said she had already cancelled over 50 memberships in the past couple days.

Here’s what a chat rep told me when I asked him if Prime members were complaining about the issue:

Amazon Chat

PRO TIP: TRY AN AMAZON BUSINESS ACCOUNT

Thanks to reader Joseph, who commented recently letting us know that his Amazon Business account has been delivering in 2-days since last September. The interesting part is that his “regular Prime account” is stuck at 4-7 days for delivery. Since an Amazon business account is FREE to join, and also gives you quantity discounts, setting up an account could be worth a shot. Also, in case you were wondering, he said his business is not COVID related in the slightest.

Prime 2-Day Shipping Has Turned Into 5-Day Delivery

The reason that 2-day Prime shipping has turned into 5, 6, or even 7-day shipping has nothing to do with UPS or the USPS.

It falls 100% on Amazon as they now say that the “2-day shipping guarantee” is from when they actually process your order and get it in the mail.

So if it takes them a couple days to box it up and ship it out, then you’ll get it delivered to your home in about 5 days on average.

If you’re like me, the main reason you joined Prime and paid $139/year was for the 2-day shipping, so this is KIND OF A BIG DEAL.

Ask the Reader: Are you a Prime member? If so, when was the last time Amazon delivered something to you in 2 days?

I have received 20 bucks twice in the last month because the item was not on time. I’m have this same issue again but have to wait until 6pm to call back because they think it could still be delivered? I asked if they bothered to look at the tracking because it was out for delivery and now it’s back at the shipping center several hours later.
Amazon has just stated they have over hired and will be laying off??? I hope they lay of only the deadbeats. I usually get my orders in two days because I’m 4 miles from a large Amazon distribution center. BTW: They told me last week that they no longer extend prime term because they are late

Phil

Amazon better be cracking down on the national “Package Theft” epidemic.

Paul

Yeah, I just straight up canceled Prime and demanded a refund after customer service lied repeatedly about this issue.

Tobi

Yes! so frustrated…. i only joined Prime for the quick shipping. I messaged today after I’ve been noticing the long shipping times, and was told “I’m sorry you don’t feel your free shipments and free music are worth it” … i said, no i don’t. I bought prime for the quick 2 day shipping. Never had any issues during the height of the pandemic, either… it’s all been within the last 2 months. Canceling prime, but they didn’t offer me a refund, and I have 6 months left. going to try calling the number above.

Terri

Yep! I’ve been a Prime Member at least a decade, back when it was $99. I’m so sick of getting 5 and 6 day shipping. I’m in Spokane and we now have TWO warehouses, so I don’t get it. And it doesn’t matter what I order. Today’s Monday, and I don’t get a delivery until Sunday. I got Prime for their FAST shipping. Those days are gone—and so will we be. I won’t pay for Prime when my renewal date hits (Nov 1). 🤬

Greg

Use Walmart if the item is in stock at the store u can get same day delivery!

Waffleydoom

Yeah, that’s the funny thing. All of the things Amazon’s competition has done to compete still works. I can order from Amazon and it takes a week, or I can order it from Walmart or Barnes and Noble and get it in 2 days or faster. Half the time it’s cheaper as well.

UR MOM

This article and comments reek of entitlement and have no mention of the workers being mistreated so you can get you toiletries a few days sooner, take the L and take comfort the workers get a tiny bit of humanity back. You heathens

UR MOM

The fee was originally for free shipping, the 2 day thing didn’t come till later, and the 2 day shipping thing 100% hurt workers, led to injuries, unsafe working conditions, undue pressure, union busting, pee bottles, and many numerous offenses. There’s plenty of evidence to support that. Just so you can get your stupid yoga mat or whatever in 2 days.quit being selfish pricks and take the L

Ganja Zombie

On the contrary you little troll… There is a ton of evidence to support the 2 day shipping. That is the whole reason people buy prime. It is a bait and switch and they mistreating customers. You sound like a dumbass…

amarley

Truly!!! What is UR Mom’s problem? Is she really saying that it is the consumer’s fault that her little troll Amazon employees are being mistreated? What would she say if the employees had been promised a 40 hour work week but was cut back to 35 hours in order to avoid paying benefits?

No one

DEAR UR MOM,

THEY ARE DUMB.

I'll take free shipping for the W.

Take the L. So edgy. You’ve said that twice now.

Bfunky

We’re not upset at workers, the time it takes now versus during height of pandemic is nuts…we know the employees have nothing to do with it. Calm down, my neighbors son works there and he says it’s 100% because higher ups say they’re losing money doing 2 day. That’s why it’s now 2 days after processing/packing your order versus 2 days altogether.

UR MOM

Your upset at the loss of the previous policy, that just so happened to hurt workers.

Waffleydoom

While I feel for the Amazon workers, Amazon is one of the richest companies on the planet and has destroyed and consumed numerous other businesses in their quest to the top. They could always hire more people, and pay and treat them better.

ackmondual

No entitlement. People paid for a feature that they’re not getting.

As for the workers, we definitely care about them, but that can be addressed independently of the 2-day shipping issue.

Bfunky

I haven’t received anything in 2 days since summer 2021…my address is within 2 day delivery. Thanks for the tips I’m going to call and give it a shot…only reason I have Prime is for quick deliveries that now take 5-9 days.

Summersday 👻

Free business prime offer is only a month free trial.

Most of what I buy I could wait a week for.

I do have some items that still arrive within 2 days, e.g. bandages.

I do wish I did not feel like all of this is paying for Bezos’ yacht. Sorry, wait a minute, it is actually in fact paying for his yacht. 🤑

RIGHT ON TARGET.

I cancelled my Prime membership because they kept triple charging my bank account for items we ordered.
I Just re-signed up for an Amazon account because I have a child due soon and needed some things Walmart does not have. I ordered my items on the 7th of September and it is the 15th of September now and none of my items have been shipped or charged to my account yet.
For some unknown reason they told me that my items will not arrive until November 22nd even with prime shipping.
I am going to give them one more week and then i’m requesting a refund and recancelling my Amazon account because this is silly AF.

Sickie Brock

Hi, I tried asking for a refund and cancelling my membership, with a refunds for the $247 days remaining and they refused. I could cancel but no refund for 247 days left in my membership. Woman was condescending and really didn’t understand her accent so she got upset for tha. I’ll wait till my membership expires then cancel. FYI

Sharon

Thanks for this insight. I knew every order was scheduled to ship the next week, and since we were getting orders within 48 hours… ah, now I know why.

Kelsey

While Amazon is an insanely wealthy company, its warehouse workers and delivery drivers are not. They are human like the rest of us and the demand is too much for them to handle. I feel very sorry for the Amazon workers and hope that Amazon changes their 2 day shipping to 3-4 day shipping to be able to commit to something that pleases the consumer and worker.

Dave

You realize that most of the shipping process is automated? Blaming it on overwhelmed employees likely isn’t very accurate. I admit I’ve never worked there so my understanding of the process is minimal, but I’ve seen videos and documentaries of this process and it requires little human interaction. That being said I agree, that if Amazon can’t commit Prime items to 2 day delivery they should change their agreement to 3-4 days. And anybody that signed up or renewed prior to such a change should get a percentage of their membership fees back base on time or date of renewal and the proposed change.

Unemployment is relatively low right now … so Amazon employees could find another job and they should if the conditions were soooo bad. I suspect its like everything else these days … everyone wants to be a victim of something … someone else is to blame for MY choices. Amazon shouldnt promise something they dont deliver. I am going to try harder to buy local even if its from my local Walmart or Target (bc mom and pop stores are no more) … a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

Jeff

Unfortunately, it’s not easy to get a credit now…I spent 20 minutes with two different agents on the phone and only after I politely asked for a credit did they give me a $5 credit. Clearly they are trained to make excuses and not offer any relief.

Ryan

Same. I was only offered $5 to my account when I refused to end the chat on my end. Then they abruptly told me that was it and to let them know if I had further issues. I asked for a transcript of the Convo for my records and they said they were unable to do so and transferred me to someone else. This person was able to email me a transcript of that Convo in less than 1min.

Also, the stock script answers corporate gives them are pandering and almost passive aggressive. “We hope you’ll give us another chance to win your heart.” Seriously?

Dan

Fact! Amazon is now broadcasting another untruthful statement. Stating they will give prime membership preference or priority over non members. False!!!! Past 6 shipments have all been 5-7 day deliveries. I now find myself out shopping more and using other consumer websites like Walmart.com. It’s been a pleasant experience. At least I can track my shipment and know when I get my deliveries. On time! Maybe we all should rethink our shopping habits.

Amazon business IS NOT free to join. They offer a 30 day free trial. Then it is $179 per year to join. Not a good hack at all. Please revise your advice.
