Amazon No Longer Offers 2-Day Prime Shipping (Here’s What To Do About It)
Have you noticed that Amazon doesn’t deliver on their 2-day Prime Shipping anymore? It’s actually not even close for my address and I’ve had to return stuff to Amazon as I don’t need it by the time the package shows up. Anything that I want to buy today (a Monday) won’t be delivered until Sunday at the earliest. I tested this on a bunch of different shopping categories and made sure it was all products sold and shipped directly by Amazon, and none could be delivered before Sunday, 6 days from NOW. But alas, not all hope is lost, here’s what you should do to hold Amazon’s feet to the fire. It’ll only take a few minutes and put an extra $10 or $20 in your pocket.
Call Them Up and Ask For a 1-Month Refund
When I have a problem with Amazon I usually start a live chat session as it’s easier to say exactly what I want to say.
BUT…for the first time ever, I recommend actually calling them at 1-(888) 280-4331 and say, “Why don’t I get 2-day Prime shipping anymore?”
I tried doing this via Live Chat and it just went in circles due to what I’m guessing was a language barrier.
At this point, give them your zip code and ask them to run it through their system to find out for sure whether your address qualifies for 2-day shipping.
Most addresses do indeed qualify for 2-day Prime shipping.

If your address does qualify, then you probably already know the EXACT reason why you’re not getting your packages within 2 days.
It’s because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain and they should pay for it.
This is when you politely ask for a 1-month refund on your Prime membership (approximately $10) because Amazon can’t hold up their end of the bargain.
I did this recently via a phone call to their customer service department and it took me all of about 5 minutes to score the $10 refund.
There was ZERO hesitation from the rep I talked with and I think they are trained to hand out this refund for those who politely ask for it.
Note: My family orders from Amazon at least 1-2 times per week and I’m not sure if that played a role in getting the 1-month refund, but in either case, it’s definitely worth a shot.
PRO TIP: AIM HIGH & ASK FOR EVEN MORE
From the comments section, several Amazon Prime members were actually given a $20 “inconvenience credit”. Since we we know that a $20 credit is on the table, you might as well ask for it. You stand a decent chance of them giving it to you, and if they don’t just try again later with a different CSR.
Hold Amazon’s Feet to the Fire
I realize Amazon’s been hit by unprecedented demand in recent months, but let’s not forget they are one of the richest companies in the world.
Now that the economy and stores have opened back up in most of the country, the demand for online shopping has been greatly reduced.
Yet Amazon still can’t figure it out and solve their order backlog issues.
What ticks me off the most is Amazon wants to blame it on the pandemic and increased demand in online shopping.
I’d have no problem buying that argument back in March, April or May of 2020…BUT NOT NOW.
It’s my opinion that Amazon was losing money on the 2-day shipping guarantee and is using the current situation as a handy way to get rid of the fast shipping guarantee altogether.

I’d be SHOCKED if 2-Day Prime shipping ever came back at this point.
So the bottom line is get your $10 refund NOW before they aren’t so generous.
The customer service rep also told me that MANY people are calling to cancel Prime, she said she had already cancelled over 50 memberships in the past couple days.
Here’s what a chat rep told me when I asked him if Prime members were complaining about the issue:
PRO TIP: TRY AN AMAZON BUSINESS ACCOUNT
Thanks to reader Joseph, who commented recently letting us know that his Amazon Business account has been delivering in 2-days since last September. The interesting part is that his “regular Prime account” is stuck at 4-7 days for delivery. Since an Amazon business account is FREE to join, and also gives you quantity discounts, setting up an account could be worth a shot. Also, in case you were wondering, he said his business is not COVID related in the slightest.
Prime 2-Day Shipping Has Turned Into 5-Day Delivery
The reason that 2-day Prime shipping has turned into 5, 6, or even 7-day shipping has nothing to do with UPS or the USPS.
It falls 100% on Amazon as they now say that the “2-day shipping guarantee” is from when they actually process your order and get it in the mail.
So if it takes them a couple days to box it up and ship it out, then you’ll get it delivered to your home in about 5 days on average.

If you’re like me, the main reason you joined Prime and paid $139/year was for the 2-day shipping, so this is KIND OF A BIG DEAL.
Ask the Reader: Are you a Prime member? If so, when was the last time Amazon delivered something to you in 2 days?

I called once and it was “under review”. This was 4 days ago. I called again today and the call magically got dropped. SO I called a third time today and was issued a $20 credit. When I added items to my cart, the credit wasn’t there. So I called for a 3rd time today to see where my credit was and turns out it is only for items that are actually SOLD and SHIPPED by Amazon. We’ll see if I ever get that credit used. I may just add some random household items so I get my money. I am not renewing my Prime membership for next month.
Nope you won’t, i have had a few of these so called $ 5.00 credits issued for problems that have arrived like the one time the 2 day shipping the order went out at 8 a.m to be delivered showed a between 11am-12p.m then and then the time frame kept going up and up during the day and never showed up and didnt arrive til 3 p.m the next day, never seen a one of them show up on a later order to be used
That’s what I did! I bought some coffee, masks, and face wax!
How to get around that is, what I discovered through complaining on their non delivery in a promised two day order. They will offer you the 5 sometime’s 10 dollar promotion on anything AMazon fulfill’s request the promotion to be changed to a Gift certificate amount then it can be used on any items, not just Amazon fulfilled from their warehouse items.
Then they should reduce what we pay for prime if they can’t get it to us in 2 days, that’s what we paid for.
I cancelled and asked for a full refund – they did give it to me.
I spoke to a rep and told them that $10 wasn’t enough. They gave me $20
They’ve really screwed themselves with this one. We have spent thousands a year with them (because of the 2 day shipping) and now I’m over it. Everything takes at least a week to get to me, and they even stopped my ability to review products without explanation. I did complain about the shipping and received a full refund for the year, but I imagine it’s because of the amount of money we spend there a year. Not anymore!
I haven’t been able to review anything on Amazon for a long time and support refuses to tell me why. On top of that, there is no 2 day shipping which is why I paid for Prime. I never cared about the other Prime features.
I’m heading to college on Saturday, so I ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon for my dorm room. Mind you,I ordered all this stuff on Monday. And literally, none of the stuff is coming on Wednesday . I have 4 different shipments coming, one is coming on Thursday, another one on Friday, another one on Saturday, and the last on is coming on freaking SUNDAY. I was very confused because from my understanding prime members receive 2 day-shipping, but now I know that other people are experiencing the same thing. They can’t blame it on Corona this time around because at this point a lot people have rejoined the work force, and basically the country is back open. Also, I know that Amazon made major bank from 2020 and 2021 alone. Get it together, Amazon.
I honestly doubt that Amazon will be around that much longer. They buy companies at ridiculous rates and they have been loosing money on 2day shipping for a while now. What I don’t understand is that they still use the most expensive shipping, 2day shipping, but take the same time or more time to actually ship it. If they just simply had employees work every other day and shipped with usps which is cheaper and comes in 2-3 days they would save money, and it would get there in 3-4 days instead of what your saying is 3-6. Don’t be surprised to see it end.
They keep throwing extra shipping options at checkout now.
I can understand if it’s an option for longer and you get something for waiting, but I’m getting multiple longer options first on the list and no benefit.
Like I ordered an item Sun morning and accidently chose the 1st Prime option for the 29th [the 2nd option was 27th-29th].
I wound up ordering it again 8 hours later that afternoon and chose the 27th-29th that time.
There was no seller to contact, as it is sold & shipped from Amazon.
Neither has shipped yet but the 2nd item 27-29 I ordered 8 hours later [both to same address and same exact item], the progress bar is near about all the way to shipped.
So I’ll likely get tracking soon, maybe midnight or 2a tonight knowing Amazon or they love to wait until the day before or morning of the delivery 5 days after order then say shipped and give tracking.
The item I ordered 1st, 8a Sun morning, the progress bar is only a 1/3 the way and still saying the 29th.
The whole idea of we mean 2-days from when we ship it, whenever that winds up being, is crazy, they could wait 20 years, then ship it and if it’s delivered 20 years and 2 days after ordering, hey, they fulfilled their 2-day delivery as promised.
The “Processing order time” is bull. On a non-membership account, it gives you the exact same delivery time like the “new” Prime Membership shipping. Do Not fall for this nonsense they are telling you!! People getting the same standard shipping like all the other non-prime members. They just want to continue making money with Prime along with not giving you the 2day shipping!
Cancel the subscription and get back the remaining balance of the year. $44.36 here!
After being run in circles twice about their delivery, I got to the point and said, I paid for prime delivery 2 days if it’s no longer available a refund for the balance of my subscription is in order. It was completed painlessly after that.
Still need to wait to see the credit!
Thanks for the post as it helped me out when contacting Amazon.
I have Noticed this in the last 2 weeks everything is either 3,4 or up to a week now to show a receive date , prime, amazon sold and shipped I even looked back at some of my orders of items in the last year and back as far as 2 years bought with 2 day shipping and had received them in 2 days, are now showing at least 4-5 days to get, i just got off the “chat” with not only 1 but 3 people the first person just poofed out of the chat, the second person joined and never even said anything, the 3rd at least tried but still we still ended up going in circles kept saying the same silliness over and over i even tried to explain that items i KNOW came within 2 days are now showing not until monday which is 5 days away, they gave me the bs of it has to he sold and shipped by Amazon im like they were! Thats why i nought them! even the amazon basics window fan i was looking at a WEEK to ship i even sent them the link the excuse was “we dont want to promise a false date,”… Offered me at first $ 5.00 credit i said No! i want to know why im paying for a service i am not getting? then they tried to up it to $10 i replied NO! don’t bother they ones i was to get before never showed so dont waste my or your time just went in circles trying to get a straight answer told the person i will just call tomorrow and speak to someone
I have been noticing this for over a year once the pandemic hit. Maybe it’s a regional thing for when 2 day shipping stopped happening? I live in Iowa.
Ok so this is interesting. I just placed an order 20 minutes ago & delivery date was showing July 1st if I ordered within the next 6 minutes. I placed the order then went to look at something else and noticed all items are now showing a delivery date of June 30th. I canceled my previous order and then added the items back to my cart & now it’s coming on the 30th. What the heck Amazon?!?
I recently ended up cancelling a Prime order reluctantly because I really wanted the order and thought it would arrive well within time before I went out of town. I placed the prime order last week and got more than a TWO WEEK delivery date once it shipped. Way off from the original delivery estimate of a week.
I figured it might be a glitch because I was tracking the shipment and it arrived within two days at an Amazon warehouse nearby where I live but still it would not update the delivery date. Thinking the date might be a glitch in the system (two weeks vs two days could be a glitch?)
I called their customer service, I spoke with two people, and they said there’s nothing they could do to change the delivery date but could offer a refund instead. Yet somehow they added on the tracking info that I put in a request to change the delivery date that we agreed on, which was a lie, since they told me they couldn’t change the date and I didn’t agree to anything. Also when they tried telling me they could issue a refund they said they could not stop the shipment, but I told them I would be out of town and suddenly they offered the option to stop the shipment.
Finally, I was so annoyed that I agreed to a refund and stop the shipment. Then the tracking updated again and suddenly the package almost instantly showed it shipped out from the local Amazon warehouse right after it was cancelled. The kicker was they still told me to have a nice day after all of this. I said I won’t because I really wanted the order and they just couldn’t help in figuring out the issue with the two week delivery date in the first place since the item had already shipped and arrived nearby.
I did end up ordering a few other items over the weekend that arrived today so the prime 1-2 day shipping isn’t normally an issue in my area.
I just called and got the same run around…more excuses than Carter has pills about why they cant get my order here in the two or even three days. Every order I have placed for months has an estimated delivery time of at least 7 full days, certainly not the 2 guaranteed by the Prime membership that I have had for over a decade!
The only reason I’m not cancelling the Prime Membership is so that I can continue getting Prime tv and movie and free kindle books. Otherwise, I’d end it,
