Nike is one of many stores that offers a military discount to eligible service members. As Nike’s way of showing appreciation, they give out a single-use 10% military discount to all service men and women for online purchases. Applying for the Nike military discount is fairly straightforward, but there are some hoops you need to jump through.

The Nike Military Discount: Here's What You NEED to Know

The Nike military discount is a 10% discount for online purchases or purchases via the Nike app.

The discount is handed out via a 1-time use promo code….but you can re-verify and get another one (more on that below).

Spouses and dependents of active military personnel are also eligible to use the discount.

The Steps to Apply For the Discount

To apply for the military discount, follow the below steps.

1. Click here to verify your military status via SheerID. Here you’ll need to complete a required verification form and upload documentation proving your status.

2. Once your status is verified, you’ll be able to use your single-use 10% off promo code.

3. Select your items online or via the Nike app, and use your 10% promo code.

PRO TIP: EVIDENCE YOU MIGHT NEED TO PROVIDE

There’s a good chance that SheerID will ask you for more information to confirm your eligibility.

Namely, they’ll ask for the following:

  • First and last name
  • Branch of service
  • Your current affiliation with the armed services
  • Your discharge date (if applicable)

Also, according to SheerID, they will be permanently delete all documents after verification.

They suggest covering (blacking out) any sensitive information that is not relevant to confirming your eligibility which I think is a great idea.

You Can Use the Discount Multiple Times

Specifically, you can use the discount once every 7 days.

However, you’ll need to re-verify your status every time to receive a promo code to use at checkout.

Also, be aware that once you receive the promo code it will expire after two weeks of being issued.

So, if you forget to use your current promo code after a couple of weeks, you can always re-verify your status and receive a new promo code.

This Military Discount is Good ONLY Online

You can only use the SheerID 10% promo code online or via the Nike app.

BUT…most Nike stores and Outlet stores will give you 10% off if you show proof of service.

The following are acceptable forms of documentation:

– Military ID card (active, reserve, or retired)

– Veteran ID card (or a government-issued ID with veteran designation)

– Discharge papers (DD-214)

Keep in mind that not all Nike retail or Outlet stores accept the military discount in-store, but it’s always worth asking.

Both Vets and Active Military Are Eligible

Both veterans and active military members are eligible.

Below is a complete list of service men and women that can apply for the discount.

– Active military members

– Reservists

– Veterans

– Retire US military personnel

– Spouses and dependents of active personnel

Ask the Reader: Did you apply for the military discount with Nike? I’m curious, was it an easy process using the discount in-store?

Here’s the Costco Furniture Warranty (HINT: It’s Like Really Good)

Updated January 21, 2025 by Kyle James

What happens if you purchase furniture from Costco and later decide it doesn’t fit in your space or you simply don’t like it? Or spill red wine on it? Luckily, Costco has a rather generous furniture warranty, but you need to know exactly how it works. Read on to discover everything you need to know about Costco’s furniture warranty.

Here's the Costco Furniture Warranty (HINT: It's Like Really Good)

Furniture Warranty/Return Policy is Unlimited Days

Costco’s furniture warranty is actually not really a warranty at all, it’s just a REALLY good return policy.

They give you an unlimited number days after the time of purchase for a full refund or exchange on furniture items.

Costco will also accept defective furniture items from defective material or workmanship at ANY time.

WOMEN RETURNING 2.5 YEAR OLD COUCH SPARKS DEBATE

A Seattle women recently bragged on TikTok about returning a couch to Costco that was almost 3 years old and the Internet went wild.

She said she just didn’t like the color anymore and built up the gumption to return it.

She said it was little intimidating as everyone was staring at her, but they verified the purchase in their system and gave her a full refund for the price she paid.

It’s my take that Costco’s return policy is not designed for people who simply decide they don’t “like it” two years later, after they’ve happily lived on it with their kids and pets.

It’s designed to help you out if the item prematurely breaks or wears down before it should.

I feel like the “couch lady” took advantage of a loophole in the system, and if this trend continues, I’m not sure how Costco can keep such a liberal return policy.

Time will tell on this one.

Online Furniture Returns Works Similarly

The same Costco return policy also covers online furniture orders made on Costco.com.

And, furniture pieces with defects can also be returned at any time.

PRO TIP: KEEP ORIGINAL PACKAGING (TEMPORARILY)

If you need to return a large or bulky item, having the original packaging ensures it’s properly protected during transit. So hold to any packing material until you know for sure that the piece of furniture is right for your space.

Some Costco warehouses prefer or require that large items be returned in their original box for easier handling. This can also greatly speed up your return or exchange process.

If the original packaging is unavailable, in some cases you may need to purchase packaging materials (e.g., boxes, bubble wrap) to secure the item for return, which can add unnecessary expense.

How To Return LARGE Items Delivered to Your Home

You can return large furniture items by scheduling a pickup of the furniture to be returned.

To schedule your large furniture piece to be picked up, follow these simple steps:

1. Sign-In or Register for a Costco account.

2. Select Orders & Returns.

3. Choose the Return Items button next to the large furniture item you wish to return and follow the provided prompts to complete your return request.

4. You’ll then be sent an email with additional instructions to schedule a pickup at your home.

Refuse Delivery if an Item is Damaged

If you made an online furniture purchase through Costco.com, you SHOULD refuse delivery if there is damage.

Also, it’s worth noting that Costco’s return policy states customers can refuse products where the item or box shows signs of damage.

While it’s a total pain in the butt, be sure to check the item carefully before signing off on the furniture delivery as it will save you the MAJOR headache of having to return it later.

PRO TIP: TEST ASSEMBLE ASAP

Furniture often comes with multiple pieces and hardware. Testing assembly helps you quickly spot missing screws, damaged panels, or manufacturing defects.

Identifying issues right away also allows you to resolve them with Costco without delays.

If you discover an issue early on while putting it together, Costco’s return policy will allow you to return it half built. So there is no need to spend the time fully assembling it only to take it back.

You Can Return Furniture For Simply Not Liking It

You absolutely can return furniture if you don’t like it….at ANY TIME.

Because Costco has a “100% satisfaction guarantee” you can return an item for any reason and they’ll take it back.

But What If I Spill Red Wine on My Couch?

Not a problem.

You’ll probably get some dirty looks from Costco employees if you try to do this, but I’m sure it’s been done before.

Expect to have to wait for a manager’s approval on this type of return.

It’s worth noting that you could run into a manager who will NOT allow your return, in which case, you’ll have to contact the Costco Corporate office.

Can I Return a Couch that My Dog Peed On?

Surprisingly, yes.

This includes damage caused by pets, everyday wear and tear, damage from natural disasters, or other damage caused by the buyer.

I hit up Costco Live Chat and asked this question specifically and was told, “I have seen crazier things be returned.”

Seems like a crazy policy and one that would be easily abused, but for now it is what it is.

Ask the Reader: Have you ever returned furniture to Costco that you simply didn’t like or was damaged by something you did? Let me know if you met any resistance from Costco.
