Cat & Jack Return Policy: Is It Really as Great as It Sounds?

Cat & Jack is a Kids’ and Baby apparel and accessories line found exclusively at Target. This kids’ clothing line offers a wide selection of fun, affordable items. Yet, with how fast kids grow, and how quickly they become disinterested in certain clothing, I was curious about Cat & Jack’s return policy. Since Cat & Jack is a line sold exclusively at Target, this blurs the line of whether this clothing line has its own set of return policies, or if it follows Target’s return policy. With a bit of digging, I was able to unveil all the secrets you need to know about their generous return policy.

Cat & Jack Return Policy: Is It Really as Great as It Sounds?

How Many Return Days Do They Allow?

365 days, also known as 1 year.

This is quite a big increase from Target’s normal 90-day return policy.

As long as you have your receipt, you can return any Cat & Jack product to ANY Target store for up to a year after purchase.

Pretty awesome policy.

It’s obvious that Cat & Jack prides itself in providing quality products that last a long time, otherwise they couldn’t afford to do this.

Can I Still Get Store Credit After 1 Year Has Passed?

No.

Cat & Jack offers a “guaranteed for 1 year” (with receipt) where you can receive a refund or store credit.

Therefore, you cannot receive a refund or store credit AFTER that 1-year mark deadline.

Do I Need A Receipt To Return My Cat & Jack Items?

Yes… for the most part.

It’s essential you have your receipt when returning Cat & Jack items to Target.

This will ensure you receive a full refund for the amount you paid.

Otherwise, if you don’t have a receipt, inevitably, the ability to return an item without proof of purchase becomes nonexistent.

However, read on to find out when/how you can receive store credit, even if you don’t have a receipt.

What Should I Do If I Lost My Receipt?

If you don’t have a receipt– don’t worry– there are a TWO ways to possibly provide proof of purchase.

1. For online purchases, check your Target account or email to see if you still have your order confirmation or online receipt that you can print out.

2. Ask a cashier to look up your transaction history made on your Target RedCard if you used one, or even your regular credit card.

Update (1/23/24): I recently talked to a Target employee at my local store and was told that her manager has instructed them to stop taking C&J returns WITHOUT a receipt.

She said it just became too big of a hassle with people bringing in bags of worn clothing, with no receipt, expecting a full refund.

So it’s save to assume that your mileage will vary when trying to make these types of returns.

Can I Still Return An Item, Even If It’s Been Worn?

Yes.

As long as it’s within the one-year guarantee time frame you can return it.

So, if your kid has worn the item and even ripped, torn, grown out of, or lost interest in the item altogether, you can still return the item for a complete refund.

Update (7/10/23): FYI, a Target employee in the comments has stated that Target will be cracking down on people simply returning outgrown clothing.

Not sure what that means exactly but I thought it was worth sharing. Much more on this at the bottom of this article.

Does the Return Policy “Start Over” on an Exchanged Item?

This question comes from reader Adri in the comments section, and I think it’s a good one worth discussing.

Adri’s question in particular is “If you buy a Cat and Jack item, then return it 364 days later for store credit, then purchase a new Cat and Jack item – does the return policy still apply to the new item?”

The short answer is YES.

Since you’re making a separate purchase, and using store credit to make that purchase, you start over with a new 365 day return policy.

The same thing goes if you’re making a straight exchange as the new item will be considered a new purchase on your receipt.

Who Pays For Return Shipping Costs?

Target does.

That’s right, you don’t have to worry about overpriced shipping costs when returning your Cat & Jack items.

Target completely covers the shipping fees when returning via UPS.

However, DON’T expect a refund on the original shipping fees you paid if you bought your Cat & Jack items online.

Unless there was a clear mistake on Target’s end, you won’t receive the original shipping fees you paid to get the item shipped to you.

How Do Online Returns Work?

You can return your Cat & Jack clothing by using Target’s online return center and following these simple steps.

1. Login to your Target.com account or on your Target app.

2. Locate your order and select the item you want to return.

3. Select “Return an Item” then “Return by Mail”.

4. Provide a return reason.

5. Click “Replace Item” or “Refund Item” based on your preference.

6. Select “Shipping Address” and print the shipping label.

7. Pack the item up, put your shipping label on the package, and drop it off at a UPS store.

What If I Got the Item As a Gift And I Don’t Have a Gift Receipt?

If you received your Cat & Jack item as a gift and don’t have a gift receipt, don’t worry.

You can still receive a refund via a merchandise return card.

This is essentially in-store credit you can use on future Target purchases.

Can I Return Cat & Jack Items That I Found At a Salvage Store?

As I’ve discussed before, there are more and more Target “salvage stores” popping up across the country.

These stores sell Target items that were either returned, or simply liquidated, and they’re typically bought by the pallet and then sold individually to savvy shoppers looking for a deal.

I recently saw a few pairs of Cat & Jack shoes ay my local salvage store and it made me wonder if someone could scam the system and try to return them to Target for store credit.

I do NOT think this is possible for a couple reasons, first of all, with very few exceptions Target requires a receipt.

Secondly, the shoes that I saw had a black Sharpie line through the tag signifying that they were liquidated merchandise and not to be returned to Target.

Will This Generous Return Policy Go Away Any Time Soon?

Apparently, word has been getting around “Mommy Groups” on Facebook about this policy, some even encouraging parents to abuse it.

If we continue abusing the policy, and bringing back clothes and shoes that kids have simply out grown, YES this policy will go away.

Keep in mind, Target recently closed stores in cities that were getting hit constantly by shoplifters and violence.

They are a for-profit business, with stockholders, and obviously have ZERO problems eliminating things that cause them to lose money.

So don’t abuse it folks, use it how it was intended, which is only if the item didn’t hold up and has quality issues.

Ask the Reader: What am I missing when it comes to the Cat & Jack return policy? Is it really as good as it sounds?

Sephora Inside Kohl’s Stores: Here’s EXACTLY How It All Works

For all the beauty enthusiasts out there who love shopping at both Kohl’s and Sephora, you’re in for a treat. As of 2021, Sephora started opening mini-stores inside some Kohl’s locations, with the plan to continue opening more Sephora mini-stores inside hundreds of Kohl’s locations. If you love going up and down the aisles of both Sephora and Kohl’s, you’re in luck. Check out everything you need to know about why Sephora is inside Kohl’s stores, how to make the most of this partnership, and more below.

Sephora Inside Kohl's Stores: Here's EXACTLY How It All Works

Are Sephora Products in ALL Kohl’s stores?

No.

Currently, all Kohl’s stores don’t have mini Sephora stores in them quite yet.

However, Kohl’s is planning on having ALL their stores eventually having a Sephora inside.

When Did This Partnership Start?

The Sephora-Kohl’s partnership was announced in mid-2020, with Sephora mini-stores opening in Kohl’s stores beginning in 2021.

Today, the partnership continues with the aim that all Kohl’s stores will have a Sephora in the future.

Is the Selection the Same as it is in Regular Sephora Store?

No.

While the Sephora stores inside Kohl’s do offer a wide selection of brands, with some sources reporting more than 120 brands at the Sephora, it’s important to understand it is a mini-store.

Therefore, don’t expect the Sephora mini-store to carry everything that a regular Sephora location does.

That being said, you can still expect to get some of the most popular beauty brands from Olaplex, Tarte, The Ordinary, and more at the Sephora stores inside Kohl’s.

Can I “Buy Online, Pick Up in Kohl’s Store”?

Yes.

You absolutely can do the “Buy Online, Pick Up In Store at Kohl’s” for Sephora products.

When your Sephora items are ready for pickup, you will receive an email notification or an app notification on your Sephora app telling you that your items are ready for pickup.

Typically, if the products are in stock, you can expect to be able to pick them up within 2 hours.

However, if you order close to Kohl’s closing time, you may have to wait until the next day to pick up your order.

Can I Shop the Sephora App and Choose Kohl’s as My Pickup Location?

Yes.

If you buy products on the Sephora app you can choose Kohl’s as the pickup location and make use of the “Buy Online, Pick Up In Store at Kohl’s” feature, and your items will be ready for pickup in a couple of hours.

That being said, this is only if the products you are ordering on the Sephora app are in stock and available at the mini-store.

While the mini-store does offer thousands of products, there may be the potential that the specific Sephora product you are looking to purchase may not be available for pickup at your specific Kohl’s location.

Can I Still Earn Sephora Beauty Insider Points at Kohl’s?

Yes.

You can definitely still earn and redeem Sephora Beauty Insider points at Kohl’s.

So…even though you cannot use Kohl’s cash at the Sephora mini-store, you can still earn and redeem points which can then be discounted from future your purchases.

Can I Also Earn Kohl’s Rewards on Sephora Purchases?

Yes.

You can earn Kohl’s Cash Rewards on Sephora purchases.

This is a big deal because who doesn’t love Kohl’s Cash as it can save you big over the course of a year.

Can I Use a Sephora Gift Card to Pay?

No.

Unfortunately, you cannot use a Sephora gift card to pay at their store inside Kohl’s.

But…alternatively you definitely can use a Kohl’s gift card inside a Sephora mini-store.

Can I Return Sephora Items from Kohl’s to a Sephora Store?

No.

Unfortunately, you cannot return items purchased at a Sephora store, inside a Kohl’s, to a regular Sephora store.

You’ll have to take advantage of the Kohl’s return policy and return your items to a Kohl’s store.

The same goes for Sephora items purchased on Kohl’s.com.

Ask the Reader: Do you prefer to shop at a regular Sephora store or a Sephora “mini-store” located inside your local Kohl’s? Why?

The Target Dress Code: Here’s the Deal on Clothing, Tattoos, and Piercings

Updated November 17, 2023 by Kyle James

Step foot into any Target store and you’ll surely find most employees sporting bright red tops. However, while a red top is a given, you may be wondering if there’s more to the Target dress code such as how much (or little) freedom employees have when it comes to what they wear. Recently, Target has expanded its dress code to allow employees to wear blue jeans any day of the week. This is just one example of how the Target employee dress code is changing. Here’s everything you need to know including what to wear to your job interview at Target.

The Target Dress Code: Here's the Deal on Clothing, Tattoos, and Piercings

What is the Dress Code for Target Employees?

Employees have to wear a red top and either khakis or blue jeans to work.

The ability to wear blue jeans any day of the week at Target started back in 2019 after their #jeansforever challenge.

Since then, employees now have the option between solid-colored khakis or blue jeans any day of the week.

It’s also important to note the Target dress code varies by location, and how lenient that location is, when it comes to what employees can and cannot wear.

How “Red” Should the Shirt Be?

Target is fairly flexible when it comes to how red an employee’s shirt needs to be.

Some basic Target “shirt rules” include:

– All employees must wear a red top to work.

– At least 50% of the top has to be red.

– No excessive writing or non-Target logos on your top.

While there are many variations of red, it seems like as long as employees wear a top similar to Target’s popular red aesthetic, that works.

What is Target’s Position on Haircuts, Tattoos, and Piercings?

Bottom-line is that Target wants its employees to look professional but they definitely promote creativity and originality.

With that said, here’s how Target feels about the following:

Haircuts – The vast majority of hairstyles are fine. You can wear your hair long (even guys) and you can have it colored.

The only time when you’ll be asked to have your hair up is if your working in Starbucks or food prep.

Tattoos – Tattoos, even those that show, are fine at Target as long as they are not offensive or obscene.

Piercings – Target manager’s won’t judge you based on your piercings.

Jewelry – Yes, you can wear all types of jewelry when working at Target.

The only time it might become an issue is if the jewelry is REALLY dangly and interferes with you doing your job or is a major distraction to others.

What Should I Wear to My Interview at Target?

Dress professionally.

This DOESN’T mean you need to wear a suit and tie (or a Hillary Clinton pant suit for ladies) to your Target job interview.

Go with a casual business look and you’ll look great.

This means slacks or khakis with a button down shirt. If you’re going to wear jeans make sure they’re dark.

If ladies want to wear a skirt, make sure it knee-length or longer.

What Kind of Shoes Can Men and Women Wear?

No open-toed shoes.

Target employees are expected to only wear closed-toed shoes but as long as they aren’t worn out, you can wear whatever shoes you want.

So you won’t be able to wear your favorite flip-flops or sandals.

If you work in the warehouse, or loading dock, they recommend steel-toed shoes for maximum protection.

Can I Wear a Red T-Shirt Instead of a Polo?

Yes.

As long as your red t-shirt is at least 50% red and doesn’t have any excessive designs, logos, or lettering, you can wear a red t-shirt instead of a polo.

They are also okay with a red hoodie or sweater, but no tank tops, halter tops, short miniskirts, or sheer clothing.

Can I Wear Khaki Shorts in the Summer?

Depends.

The Target dress code appears to vary by location.

When it comes to wearing khaki shorts, it seems some locations allow employees to wear them and some don’t.

If you’re a “short wearer”, especially in the summer, you can ask during the interview process to get a feel for that Target’s dress code.

Does the Dress Code Change Seasonally?

Yes and no.

Again, the dress code can be influenced by the location and management at each particular Target location.

Therefore, it’s likely that a location’s dress code can change slightly (i.e. wear shorts in the summer); however, the dress code changing is largely based on a location-by-location basis.

Do Some Target Stores Allow Jeans?

Yes.

As of 2019, ALL Target stores allow their employees to wear blue jeans any day of the week.

They just CAN’T have any holes, rips, or tears in them.

Can Stockers and Cart Attendants Wear Hats?

Depends.

Wearing hats is another part of the dress code that is largely dependent upon the location you work at.

Some locations don’t mind stockers and cart attendants wearing hats, while other locations aren’t as lenient and have a no-hat rule.

If you live in a very hot climate, you can almost guarantee cart attendants are allowed to wear hats.
