Cabela’s Return Policy: Here’s How It Actually Works

From hunting, fishing, camping gear, and more, Cabela’s is your place to get all kinds of outdoor gear. However, with virtually anything you buy either in-store or online these days, it’s always good to know the store’s return policy in case you second-guess your purchase. Fortunately, Cabela’s return policy offers a fairly long return window and standard return requirements, making it fairly simple for customers, but there are some nuisances to be aware of, especially when buying guns and firearms.

Cabela's Return Policy: Here's How It Actually Works

How Many Return Days are Allowed by Cabela’s?

60 days.

Cabela’s allows you up to 60 days after purchase to be able to return items with valid proof of purchase.

Does Cabela’s Require My Receipt to Make a Return?

Yes and no.

You do need a receipt/valid proof of purchase to guarantee the full refund of your order.

However, you can still potentially make a return in-store without a receipt, you just may not get the full amount you paid for the item.

Items returned without a receipt at Cabela’s will be processed at the lowest sale price of that given item.

Plus, you will only be able to exchange the item of the same product or receive in-store credit in the form of a gift card.

Cabela’s also has the right to not accept returns made without a receipt if they feel you’re abusing their return policy or if they think you’re trying to return stolen merchandise.

PRO TIP: RETURN STUFF TO BASS PRO SHOPS

Did you know that you can return Cabela’s items to Bass Pro Shops? You sure can. You can also return Bass Pro Shops purchases to your local Cabela’s which could be a handy “return hack” depending on where you live.

Can I Get Merchandise Credit if I Lose My Receipt?

Potentially.

If you lost your receipt, you can still try to return your order in-store to receive merchandise credit.

That being said, Cabela’s does have the right to decline your return request without valid proof of purchase.

What I.D. Do I Need to Show if I Make a Return Without a Receipt?

A valid government photo ID.

You may be asked to show a valid government photo ID when making a return at Cabela’s without a receipt.

They will track your “receipt-less” return using your ID and reserve the right to decline your return if you try and to return to many items without proof of purchase.

PRO TIP: CABELA’S REFUND TAKING TOO LONG?

For whatever reason, it can take a long time for Cabela’s to give you your refund on online returns, like up to 3 months. This is NOT acceptable. If it takes longer than a month, you should call and require them to give you an immediate gift card in the amount of the refund if they can’t process it immediately. From experience you stand a good chance of them honoring this. As a last resort, call your credit card company and file a claim, this should light a fire under Cabela’s butt and force them to process your return quickly.

Can I Return Firearms to Cabela’s?

No.

All firearm sales are final at Cabela’s.

This includes black powder firearms, Primers, Reloading Lead, Brass or Bullets.

But…if they sell you a fully functioning gun, and you take it to the range, and it will not eject a shell or casing or will not perform basic functions, THEY TYPICALLY WILL exchange it.

According to this former Cabela’s employee, “If the guy on the floor won’t budge ask to talk to a manager, they’ll have to clear the return anyways.”

Make sure you fully test the firearm within 30 days of purchase as it will be MUCH more difficult to exchange the gun after 30 days.

If Cabela’s holds their ground and will not take back your firearm, have them service the gun and fix the problem at the VERY LEAST.

Can I Cancel My Firearm Order Before I Take Possession?

Yes.

If you chose “Site to Store” when buying your gun online, you can still cancel your order.

Just call the Cabela’s store where you were planning on picking up the gun and they’ll cancel your order.

The firearm has not been transferred to your possession and your order can be easily cancelled.

Be aware that you might be hit with a $25 cancellation fee.

What About Returning Ammo to Cabela’s?

Nope.

Ammo that you CANNOT return to Cabela’s includes shotgun shells, primers, reloading lead, brass, and bullets.

Any Other Items That Are NOT Returnable?

Yes.

Certain items are not returnable at Cabela’s and they include the following:

– Gasoline-powered items and drones that have been used.

– Custom order products (i.e. custom furniture).

– Any product that’s been altered.

– Bargain cave items.

– Tree Stands

– Mouth Calls

If by chance you receive a defective product, you can contact customer service and explain your situation to potentially get a refund and waive the shipping fees to ship back the product.

Can I Return an Online Purchase to a Cabela’s Store?

Yes.

You can return an online purchase to a Cabela store.

Be sure to bring your original receipt or order number along with a form of photo ID.

How Do I Make an Online Return?

If you are looking to make a Cabela’s online return, here are some simple steps to follow:

1. To print out a prepaid shipping label to make a return for Bass Pro Shop orders, click HERE. For Cabela’s orders, click HERE.

2. Fill out the form and print out your shipping label.

3. Place return items securely in a package and attach your shipping label.

4. Mail the package.

ONLINE PURCHASES USING PAYPAL

Beware using PayPal as your payment method when shopping the Cabela’s website. If you try and make a return, you’ll be stuck with either a Cabela’s gift card or an even exchange.

Who Pays the Return Shipping Fees?

If you received a defective product, the shipping fees can be waived (just be sure to contact customer service).

However, if you are simply returning an item for whatever reason, you (the customer) are responsible for paying the shipping fees.

While the shipping label is prepaid, the shipping fees will be deducted from the total amount you get back from making your return.

Amazon Unclaimed Packages: How to Buy Them and What to Expect

Updated October 23, 2024 by Kyle James

Ever wonder what happens to Amazon packages that either get sent to the wrong address or go unclaimed? This can be a great way for buyers and resellers alike to save money. We will also discuss the downsides to buying Amazon unclaimed packages (especially if you buy a mystery box). But for the most part, this can be a great way to get quality items for less. Read on to learn everything you need to know about how to save money buying unclaimed packages.

Amazon Unclaimed Packages: How to Buy Them and What to Expect

Can You Buy Unclaimed Packages Directly from Amazon?

Yes.

You can actually buy unclaimed Amazon packages right off of their website.

Click this link to visit Amazon and find some “Unclaimed Packages for Sale” and hopefully score some savings.

It appears that most unclaimed products are currently jewelry items but it changes quite frequently so keep checking back.

PRO TIP: LOOK FOR AMAZON “BIN STORES”

Amazon Bin stores, also known as “Liquidation Stores” are starting to pop-up around the country. While not everything they sell is an unclaimed item (most of it is returns), they absolutely do sell unclaimed products from Amazon. Look for one in your neck of the woods and enjoy the HUGE savings, often up to 90% off the original price. They often go by names like Bargain Bins, Falling Prices, and Bargain Lanes.

Can You Buy Them Directly from UPS or USPS?

Yes.

You can buy unclaimed Amazon packages through both UPS and USPS.

If the Amazon packages aren’t claimed within 90 days, then often USPS will auction off these unclaimed packages at a Mail Recovery Center.

However, it’s important to note these auctions occur very infrequently.

GovDeals.com is another way the postal service sells off unclaimed items.

Often, items are sold in “lots” rather than individual items from packages.

Therefore, you must be willing to spend more (and receive more items) than if you bought them individually from Amazon’s website.

Is Liquidation.com a Good Option for Pallets?

Yes.

Liquidation.com is another great option to get unclaimed packages for cheap.

The great thing about Liquidation.com is you have more control over the size and exactly what you purchase versus auctioning for unclaimed packages via the postal service.

You have the power to bid on the specific category of products you want to buy and how much you want to buy.

For instance, you can choose to buy a truckload, pallet, or smaller package.

Another key difference between Liquidation.com and the postal service is that you don’t have to wait for an infrequent auction to buy unclaimed packages.

Instead you can buy the Amazon packages right away, instead of patiently watching and waiting for the next auction to arise.

WORD OF WARNING ON BUY AMAZON PALLETS

Test the waters by buying small pallets at first. Amazon does not sort items by what is broken and what is usable. You’re typically buying a pallet filled with both and will have to sort through everything to see what can be sold as “like new” and what you’ll have to sell as used or broken. Also, many pallets contain large items that are hard to sell on eBay, forcing you to sell locally through Facebook Marketplace.

Can You Buy Unclaimed Packages on eBay?

Yes.

You can buy unclaimed packages on eBay by simply searching “unclaimed Amazon packages” on the site, or by clicking here.

Any Guarantees on Condition or Contents?

No.

Unfortunately, when buying these types of packages, there is no guarantee that the items you’ll receive won’t be damaged or broken.

Therefore, it’s best, especially when starting, to not spend too much money and stay well within what your comfort zone in case you do receive an unusable item that’s in bad condition.

What Kind of Savings/Deals Can I Expect?

The whole point of buying unclaimed Amazon packages is to cash in on significant savings so you can either enjoy the items yourself or resell the items to make a profit.

Inevitably, savings will vary.

Some deals have been reported to be as low as $1 per unclaimed package.

However, often these are for mystery packages where you don’t know the contents of the package until you receive it.

So, although you can get huge deals, especially on some high-end products via mystery boxes, you can also get “worthless” products.

How Do I Avoid Scams?

Unfortunately, there is a potential you can run into scammers while trying to save on unclaimed packages.

Therefore, to avoid scams, if you’re new to buying unclaimed packages, don’t invest a great deal of money to buy a blind box right out of the gate until you gain more experience as to what to look out for.

Other tips to avoid scams when buying unclaimed packages include:

– Use only trusted websites (i.e. Amazon, eBay, Liquidation.com) to buy unclaimed packages.

– Always read the reviews of the vendor you are buying your mystery package from before purchasing. This will save you the heartache of being scammed by seeing what others have said about the vendor.

– Read up on the terms and conditions in case you receive a damaged or broken item that was not as advertised.

Pets are lovable companions that can bring joy and comfort to any household. That being said, any pet owner knows that pets can be rather unpredictable. From the picky dog or cat that only plays with certain toys, to the pet whose stomach gets upset easily, this can make it difficult to find the right pet food, treat, or toy for your own unique pet. However, the Petco return policy makes it fairly easy to make returns on most of its products. Learn more about Petco’s return policy to get the most out of your refunds and not miss their return window.

Petco Return Policy: Can You Return Pet Food, Dead Animals, and Clearance Items

How Many Return Days Are Allowed?

30 days after purchase.

If you aren’t satisfied with your Petco purchase, you can return your in-store or online purchase within 30 days of purchase.

Do I Need My Receipt To Make A Return?

Yes.

You need some form of receipt to serve as proof of purchase.

If you don’t have a receipt, be sure to also bring your government-issued ID when returning your items in-store.

Most managers will give you store credit on the lowest selling price of the item that you’re returning sans receipt.

Mileage can vary from store to store, especially if the items are opened or don’t have the original packaging.

PRO TIP: NO RECEIPT HACK

Join the FREE version of Petco Vital Care program called “Core”. Not only will you get members-only pricing on certain items, but your receipts will be stored in the Petco system via your phone number. You’ll never have to worry about losing your receipt again as it can be VERY hard to make a return at Petco without it.

Does Petco Have a Fish Return Policy?

Yes.

If the fish you purchase at Petco sadly passes away within Petco’s 30-day return policy window you can return the dead fish.

A store associate will take care of the dead fish and properly dispose of it upon return.

Be sure to bring a water sample from your fish tank as that could determine whether they give you a refund or not.

What About Sick Animals?

Yes.

You can return sick animals bought at Petco within their 30-day return policy window.

As always, remember to bring your government-issued ID and receipt of when you bought the animal.

PRO TIP: ALWAYS RETURN “BAD-QUALITY” ITEMS TO PETCO

I have a labradoodle puppy that is a BIG TIME chewer. I bought a dog chew that claimed to be the “most durable” on the market. Within an hour, he had chewed off a HUGE chunk of it. I took it back and they gave me my money back with ZERO hassles. I asked the manager if this was standard practice and she said “yes, if it says it’s durable and it clearly isn’t, you deserve your money back”. Good job Petco, excellent customer service.

Can I Return Opened Pet Food?

Yes.

If you aren’t 100% satisfied, you can definitely return opened pet food to Petco.

This is great news for pet owners as many dogs and cats can be quite the picky eater.

Therefore, Petco accepting open pet food is a game-changer because you can return the food, especially if your pet doesn’t like the food or it doesn’t sit well with their stomach.

Can I Return Online Purchases In-Store?

Yes.

As long as you have a receipt and ID as proof you purchased the item, you can return online purchases in-store.

There are several ways to show proof of purchase from an online purchase that Petco will accept as a valid return in-store. This includes:

  • Store Return Receipt: On your Petco account, go to your Order History and locate the item(s) you want to return. Here, you should find a ‘Store Return Receipt’ that you can either print out and bring in-store or show on your smartphone at the store
  • Confirmation Email Of Purchase: Another way is to print out or show your confirmation email on your phone that you should have received after making the purchase.

It’s important to remember that online purchase returns will only be accepted 30 days after the initial shipment date.

Therefore, be aware that your 30-day return window DOES NOT start when you receive your Petco order, but RATHER from when your order is shipped.

PRO TIP: DON’T GIFT ANIMALS. BUT IF YOU DO, PETCO HAS YOUR BACK

Some Petco employees will refuse to sell an animal to someone who’s gifting it. Gifting small animals like hamsters and Guinea pigs often results in the animal being returned, which stresses them out as they have to be quarantined. Petco will definitely take the animal back, but they’d rather have the person who’s going to be responsible for the animal buy it themselves.

Can I Return Clearance Items?

Yes.

If you aren’t happy with your clearance item purchase, and its within the 30-day policy window, you can return your Petco clearance order.

You can either return an online Petco purchase in-store (with valid proof of purchase and ID).

Or, you can ship back any online Petco purchase for a complete refund.

Just be sure to make your return within Petco’s 30-day return policy window.
