Victoria’s Secret Return Policy: Time To Clear Up the Muddy Waters

Not gonna lie, there’s a lot going on with the Victoria’s Secret return policy. From things like receipt-less returns, to “franchise store” returns, to returning gifts without a receipt, it’s really confusing trying to keep it all straight. So I set out to try and clear up the muddy waters and make the water purified and even drinkable. I hope I succeeded and you won’t get hit hard by Montezuma’s revenge. Now that I’ve painted that amazing visual, let’s get to the in’s and out’s of their return policy.

Victoria's Secret Return Policy: Time To Clear Up the Muddy Waters

How Many Return Days Does Victoria’s Secret Allow?

30 days.

Victoria’s Secret use to give you a generous 90 days to decide if the clothing or lingerie is right for you, but these days you only get 30 days.

At which point they’ll refund the purchase price (plus tax) to your original form of payment.

PRO TIP: EXTENDED HOLIDAY RETURNS

Victoria’s Secret has a generous extended holiday return period that allows purchases made from 10/15/24 – 12/24/24 to be returned all the way up until 1/23/25.

You Still Have Options If You Lost Your Receipt

First, if you made your purchase in-store with a credit card, they’ll typically be able to lookup your purchase as long as you have your credit card with you.

Otherwise, if you don’t have your credit card, you’ll need to call Victoria’s Secret Store Relations at (855) 866-5810.

The folks at Store Relations should be able to look up your receipt information for you and send you a copy.

If NO record of your purchase can be found, you’ll have to settle for store credit for the lowest historical selling price of the item.

Victoria’s Secret also limits you to $250 worth of “no-receipt returns” within a 90 day period.

They will ask for a valid photo ID at the time of your return in order to keep track of your return history.

PRO TIP: RETURNS AFTER 30 DAYS

If you wait too long and the 30-day return window has lapsed, your ONLY option is a merchandise exchange for the lowest selling price of the item. But keep in mind that if the value of the returned item is more than the value of the item you receive in the exchange, they WILL NOT credit you the difference. And vice versa, meaning you’ll have to pay the difference if what you’re getting in the exchange has a higher price than what you’re returning.

Exceptions to the 30-Day Return Window

Yes, there are few return policy exceptions at “Vicky Secret” that you need to be aware of…

1. Sewn-In Garment Tag Removed – You CANNOT return these items at any point. Don’t cut out the tag, even if it itches.

2. In-Store Purchases Returned by Mail – You have to return these to the actual store and not via the mail.

3. Items with tags stating “Required for Return” – Once you remove the tag on these items you CANNOT return them.

4. Gift Cards – Can’t return gift cards under any circumstance unless that balance is under $10 in which case you can cash them out with a purchase.

In-Store Returns for an Online Purchase

In the United States you can make an in-store return on ANY online purchase from the Victoria’s Secret website.

To make the process even easier you can start a live chat session with them and the chat rep will look up your order and set the return in motion and then it will be quickly finalized when you bring the item(s) into a Victoria’s Secret location.

Can I Try Items On At Home Then Return Them?

Yes, even underwear and lingerie can be tried on at home.

Just make sure you DO NOT cut out the sewn in tags as you won’t be able to return them if you do.

Also, make sure you keep the hygiene sticker in-place on undergarments in order to return the item.

“Franchise Store” Returns

If you make a purchase from a franchise store be aware that you can ONLY return items to that exact location.

I’m not sure if you would even know if you were buying from a “franchise store” so it could be worth asking at the checkout counter.

Returning a Gift Without a Gift Receipt

You have 2 options depending on how you want to return it…

Returning the Gift In-Store

They will give you the lowest selling price of the item in the form of a Victoria’s Secret gift card.

Returning the Gift via the Mail

This way is a little trickier.

Start by visiting this page and print out the return form.

Next, fill it out and be sure to check the box “Returning a Gift” and drop it in the mail with your item(s).

You will have to pay the return shipping fees.

They’ll email you a merchandise credit for the lowest selling price of the item once they receive your package.

PRO TIP: THERE’S NO LIMIT ON RETURNS

In recent years, Victoria’s Secret would limit you to 7 returns in a 30-day period but they changed their policy. Fortunately this policy no longer exists and you can make as many returns as you’d like in a 30-day period.

Who Pays the Return Shipping Fees?

If you’re within 30 days, and have a valid receipt, they will pay the return shipping fees.

Inside the United States, you can print out a FREE shipping label from your online account and return your items at NO cost to you.

Bonus Tip: What If I Just Want a Price Adjustment?

Most shoppers aren’t aware that Victoria’s Secret will give you a price adjustment within 14 days of your purchase date.

If you notice a price-drop, all you have to do is bring back your original receipt and they’ll issue you a credit to your original form of payment.

It’s also worth noting that this is an in-store only policy and you can’t get a price adjustment on online purchases.

ASOS Return Policy: Time to Make Sense of ALL The Confusion

Updated August 23, 2024 by Kyle James

ASOS has been around since 2000 but I’ve only recently become acquainted with them due to my teenage daughters liking their clothing styles. But with any online shopping, especially for clothes and apparel, the inevitable return will happen. So I recently dug into the ASOS return policy to help my daughter with her return. I gotta admit that I found their policy a bit confusing at first so I figured it was worth a blog post as I’m sure many other shoppers had questions as well. Here’s everything you need to know about their return policy for U.S. purchases.

ASOS Return Policy: Time to Make Sense of ALL The Confusion

How Many “Try It Out Days” in the ASOS Return Policy?

28 days.

ASOS gives you exactly 28 days from date of delivery to decide if the item is right for you.

Returns with 28 days are given a full refund to the original payment method.

If you return something between day 29 and day 45 you’ll have to settle for an ASOS gift voucher.

After day 45 you’re out-of-luck.

Are There Any Exceptions to This Policy?

Yes, there are several exceptions that you should be aware of…

– Final Sale Items – Items marked Final Sale are not eligible for a return, refund, or exchange.

– Underwear – If the hygiene seal is not intact, or labels have been removed, you can’t return them.

– Swimwear – Same rules that apply to underwear.

– Face & Body Products – Can’t return them if they’ve been opened or the protective seal has been removed.

– Pierced Jewelry – Can’t return things like earrings, nose rings, or navel rings if the seal has been tampered with.

– Masks/Face Coverings – If you break the package seal you can’t return it.

Can I Take the Tags Off and Wear It Outside?

No.

Well, I suppose you can wear it outside, but they ask you to NOT take the tags off and “wear it”.

If you try to return something that has clearly been worn, or is not in a salable condition, they won’t return your money.

I’ve even been told that in many cases they’ll mail the item back to you and make you pay the delivery costs if you try to do this.

What If I Take the Tags Off and Don’t Like the Quality?

I asked ASOS this question specifically as the answer was nowhere to be found on their website.

If you’re returning items within the returns timeframe the tags NEED to be included in the return (attached or unattached).

If you’re returning AFTER the returns timeframe, due to a faulty issue with the item, then it’s OKAY if the tags are missing.

Don’t forget to select FAULTY as the reason for your return.

Also, it’s worth noting that ASOS will NOT send a replacement on faulty items but will refund you in-full after inspecting the item.

What If My Clothes Fall Apart After 45 Days?

You’re probably NOT out-of-luck.

ASOS told me that “if your clothes become faulty after 45 days you can return them back to us so that we can inspect it and we’ll send you update via email about your refund and outcome of the investigation.”

Seems to definitely be worth a shot, especially if the defect is fairly obvious.

How Do I Start an Online Return?

Simply login to your account and go to your order history.

You’ll then see the option to return the item through “My Account”, click on it and ASOS will guide you through the process.

The final step will be to print out a free return label and drop it off at the USPS or request a pickup.

Can I Return Outlet Clothing Too?

Yes.

As long as the item does not say Final Sale you can return it.

Most Outlet items are NOT Final Sale and come with both free shipping and free returns.

How Many Days Until I Can Expect My Money Back?

14 days.

They shoot for getting your money back to you within 14 days of receiving it into their return warehouse.

How Do I Make a Return If I Ordered from ASOS Marketplace?

ASOS Marketplace sellers all have different exchange and return policies.

Because of this, you’ll need to contact the seller individually to find out their specific return policy.

Can I Just Do an Even Exchange?

No.

As of this writing ASOS does NOT offer exchanges on orders.

If you want a different size or color they ask you to return the item and place a brand new order.

Can Their Return Policy Be Abused?

Yes.

ASOS is one of the only online retailers who specifically spells out on their website what their stance is on return policy abuse.

Specifically, they say that if you return “waaay” more items than the normal shopper, or repeatedly wear clothing then try to return it, they reserves the right to deactivate your ASOS account with NO warning.

So be smart and don’t abuse it folks.

Bonus Tip #1: Make the Return Anyways

According to this Reddit thread a former ASOS warehouse employee dropped the bomb that they would process EVERY return regardless of the timeframe.

So the takeaway is that even if you’re beyond the return window, you might as well try and make the return anyways.

Bonus Tip #2: Contact the CEO

From the same Reddit thread, another poster had the great advice of contacting their CEO, Nick Beighton, at [email protected].

This apparently has gotten some good results if you’re having trouble with your return due to extenuating circumstances.

Others have had success calling them out on Twitter and Instagram and have often gotten a quick response.

The Nordstrom Employee Discount: Things To Know Before Your Interview

If you found this article you’re either considering applying for a job, or a new hire trying to figure out exactly how the Nordstrom employee discount works. In either case, they have a pretty liberal discount for employees and it definitely helps you save money, especially when you can tack it the discount onto clearance and final sale merchandise. Here are the 8 important things you must know in order to use the discount and maximize your savings when shopping at Nordstrom.

Nordstrom Employee Discount: Things To Know Before Your Interview

What Exactly is the Nordstrom Employee Discount?

Their employee discount is either 20% -or- 33% depending on your level of employment.

Regular hourly employees get a 20% discount while management gets a very solid 33% discount.

I’ve also been told that some department managers, and what they term all-stars (like employee of the month), can also qualify for the 33% discount for limited periods of time.

How Long Do I Have to Work to Qualify For the Discount?

You’re eligible for the employee discount as soon as you have an employee number and receive your first paycheck.

This is done to prevent people from getting jobs at Nordstrom simply to take advantage of the discount and then abruptly quitting.

The discount applies to both part-time and full-time employees.

Are There Any Items That Are Excluded?

The only item at Nordstrom that does NOT qualify for the employee discount is Gift Cards.

Will Nordstrom Increase the Discount Around the Holidays?

Yes.

Some Nordstrom locations will increase their employee discount around Christmas and other holidays.

From my research, it seems to come down to the discretion of individual store managers, but the discount boost averages 10% – 20%.

Can I Get the Discount on “Final Markdown” Items?

Yes.

Considering that Final Markdown items are often already 50% to 80% off the original price, the employee discount on top of that makes for a GREAT discount.

Can I Get The Discount When Shopping Online Also?

Yes, but you must start the process on this page.

You’ll be asked sign-in to your Nordstrom account or create one if you don’t already have one.

Next you’ll enter your employee number and follow the steps to collect your discount.

On the checkout page, enter EMPLOYEE in the “promotion code” box.

Then enter your employee number in the space provided and you should be good to go.

Are My Family Members or Spouse Eligible?

Yes.

Specifically, family members under the age of 25 who live with you, along with your spouse, are indeed eligible for the employee discount.

What Payment Method Can I Use When Using My Employee Discount?

You’ll need to use either a Nordstrom Visa card, Nordstrom credit card, or Nordstrom Gift Card as payment in order to get the discount.

Sound confusing? Nordstrom offers BOTH a retail credit card that can ONLY be used at Nordstrom, and a Visa card than can be used anywhere that accepts Visa.

Both cards will have your employee number on the back which is used for proof of employment.
